Comfort

A state of physical and emotional ease.

Comfort addresses both physical and emotional ease, and the client’s self-report is the most reliable indicator of pain. Pair analgesics with nonpharmacologic measures such as repositioning, heat or cold, distraction, and a calm environment. Reassess after every intervention to confirm it worked and to guide the next step.
