SharePoint agents are metered through Microsoft 365 pay-as-you-go billing, set up as a policy in the Microsoft 365 admin center over an Azure subscription. Each interaction by an unlicensed user consumes 12 messages: 2 for the generative answer and 10 for tenant graph grounding via Microsoft Graph. Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license incur no metered charge. The exam distinction matters: SharePoint agents are lightweight, document-scoped agents governed by this 12-message rule, whereas Copilot Studio agents bill and are managed through separate surfaces.
